The home grounds for newly crowned Ghana premier league winners Aduana Stars would get a facelift as the club prepares to meet the Confederation of African Football (CAF) mandatory standard stadiums CAF competitions.
Aduana Stars, who play their home matches at the Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa Ahenkro, would not be able to use the pitch as it has been closed for renovation.
In an interview with Ghana News Agency (GNA) sports, Mr. Elvis osei Poku, a Management member and the Deputy Greater Accra representative of the club, said the closure for the facelift was to conform to CAF’s regulations.
“Per the CAF Champions league standards, we needed to close the stadium for work to be done in the stands and on the playing field.
“The sitting capacity would also be upgraded to accommodate more fans as we prepare to embark on the CAF championship journey”.
According to Mr. Osei Poku, who is also a representative of Aduana Stars Greater Accra communication team, the facelift and work would be completed on time to avert any alternative move.
“The stadium would be closed for a maximum of two months and we are going to do everything possible to finish before the tournament commences…money is not an issue to the Dormaahene” he added.
Aduana Stars would represent Ghana in the 2018 CAF champions’ league, scheduled to start in February, 2018.
